Why Storytelling is Important

Storytelling is what connects us to our humanity.  It links us to our past, and provides a glimpse into our future.  Storytelling is how we make meaning out of the chaos of human existence. People are naturally drawn to the stories that have characters that they can relate to, by learning to tell your story in a way that creates connection, we can “turn the perception of disability upside down.” (Source: quora.com)

In the disability movement the way we tell our story either broadens the gap between disability and society, creating sympathy or draws us together evoking empathy and creating human connection.

In the words of our founder, Chris Waddell, “If you don’t tell the story, it’s as if it never happened.”
