2020 Annual Appeal Letter

At almost every Nametags presentation I get asked, “If you could go back in time to avoid the accident, would you?” The question gets to the heart of our message: no matter who we are, our lives will take twists and turns, plans will fall short and change. But the Dalai Lama said, “Sometimes not getting what you want is the greatest gift of all.” I’d love to walk again, but I wouldn’t want to trade becoming the best in the world at something, the people I’ve met, the experiences I’ve had or the person that I’ve become for some vision of what my life might have been.

If 2020 hasn’t shaken us to the core, it has at least been a major inconvenience. At One Revolution, we’re in the business of resilience, and it has required all of our grit. Early in the year, we pivoted from assembly-based to online programs, but most schools haven’t had the bandwidth for anything outside of the core curriculum. To keep the resilience conversation going, we created the Nametags Chat Podcast with interesting and accomplished members of the adaptive community. Last week was our thirty-third episode.

The Chat streams to Facebook Live Wednesdays 5-6pm Mountain Time. As an asset, it joins our three full-length online Nametags videos and our award-winning Documentary of the Kilimanjaro climb, which are free options on the One Revolution YouTube Channel. Demand for Virtual Nametags presentations and Q&A sessions is starting to rise as well.

This past year will leave a ring on the tree of our existence from which will need to recover. Returning to a more normal life will be the first step. The next steps will be more challenging. Reclaiming our sense of empowerment. Finding the next path. Catching up to our everyday learning. Resilience will be important and we’ll be there. If you can, please help us in supporting the future of our young people.

Thank you,

Chris
